I am a high school senior at Robert Vela High School in Edinburg, Texas. I have attended AFW a few times before modeling for AL+LU Apparel. I love the fashion Industry. AL+LU has inspired me to excel in fashion as an aspiring designer. I do have a few pieces I would love to show this spring. I will be studying at Texas State University in San Marcos for Fashion Merchandising and am ready to hit the ground running. How the name Heavenly Flower came up is simple. My name, Leilani, means Heavenly Flower in Hawaiian. I will be showing between 4 to 7 pieces on the runway. I will be recycling denim jeans, skirts in a way that it will be changed from it’s original state and/or simply adding a few things to it. I have been inspired by some designers that have done your runway and asked myself why not me? Yes, I am still in high school, but am determined to go out there and show people that young kids can do this as well. As long as there is a strong will behind the heart I believe it can happen. I will be submitting my very first outfits that my mom has advised and helped me put them together. I know that I will give teenagers the opportunity to express themselves with trendy but original concepts.
